What's the first thing you think of when it's time to give a gift? Don't lie, because you're only cheating yourself, you and I both know that the question is "How much is this gonna set me back?". Perhaps closely followed by "How much did they spend on me last year?" or "Have I got anything in the cupboard I can re-gift?".
Now, I'm not one to judge because I want this blog to be a safe environment. There are no wrong answers. In fact, I'm here to help - sort of like a gift therapist (is that a thing?). Anyway, after much research and deep thinking, I've developed a simple Gift Giving Algorithm to help you figure out firstly if a gift is required, and secondly, how much to spend.
When you give a gift, it says a lot about you. It’s almost immediately evident to the recipient how much thought went into their gift. If you're a business, gifting is especially important, because it can either enhance a relationship and create goodwill, or, if it's lack lustre, you could be replaced quicker than Jan Brady (that’s a reference from a really, really, old television show for the young ones playing at home). So, "if you're gonna do it, do it right - right?" (Wham, 1996). But what exactly is right?
